History
- Only child, despite frequent requests for a younger sibling.
- Grew up in Autumn Grove, in a bayside cottage in Seagate, which is where her parents still live. She has never wanted to live anywhere else. The farthest she's been from the area for any decent length of time was for med school.
- Dad is a fisherman who will also do boat tours, though he's very picky about who he'll allow on his boat: definitely no booze-soaked frat outings or bachelor parties. But every once in a while he shows up on social media, photobombing someone's selfies. Mama has both worked and not worked over the years. No real career, but she would take on jobs if times were lean, or stay home with Vanessa if she could. Now that her daughter's grown, Mama Louisa is that Afro-Cuban old lady who seems to be everywhere in town, striking up conversations with friends and strangers alike, giving directions and recommendations, and basically just making it her job to know everybody.
- Dad taught her to fish (and clean and prepare them afterward) and how to grill a good fish; mom taught her how to mend clothes to make them last longer and how to make quimbombo.
- Was somewhat known as a troublemaker, though not so much causing trouble for others deliberately, just for her deep curiosity and experiments that often had explosive, loud, messy, smelly, or any combination thereof results.
- Got good grades all through school, particularly in science classes. Always knew she wanted to do something in a scientific field, decided on medicine when she was 20 because what is the human body except a mystery, despite everything we already know about it?
- Went to Harvard (courtesy of a full ride scholarship) for undergrad. After, she went to the University of Massachusetts Medical School (Worcester) for medical school. Returned to town and did her residency with the former town doctor, then worked in the clinic with him as an assistant / apprentice. When he retired to Florida 5 years ago, she took over the practice.
- Med school isn't very conducive to dating, and then living in your hometown where most eligible people your age were in school with you, and you can remember who ate the glue and who peed their pants in first grade, is even less conducive to dating (moreso when you're the town doctor, so everyone is your patient). She does what she can, and has had brief hook-ups / flings with tourists, but not much more than that.

Extra
- Goes for a run every morning, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night, etc etc. Runs in the Boston Marathon every year, more to push herself than trying to win.
- Drives a hybrid prius.
- Requires coffee to human properly. Considers decaf a travesty.
- She found a vintage medical bag in a thrift shop in Worcester, and she absolutely carries it unironically as a medical bag / purse / catchall.
- Wears yoga pants (not at work) and actually does yoga. Or tries to, anyway. She subscribed to a couple of yoga routine channels on YouTube and has actually done a few!
- Reads in her spare time, though she has very few books in her apartment. She's in the library every couple of weeks for something new.
- She would sort herself into Ravenclaw, though there's an undercurrent of Hufflepuff to her.
- Can be bought with a supreme pizza.
- "Do it for the science" is basically her life motto.
- Still remembered by other townies as the girl who accidentally burned off her eyebrows in a failed experiment summer '95. Or the girl who lit her shoe on fire in summer '00.
- Grey's Anatomy is her guilty pleasure tv show.
