History

Geoffrey Jones and Adelaide Wilson both attended Hogwarts around pretty much the same time. Geoffrey was in Ravenclaw two years ahead of Adelaide in Hufflepuff, so their paths didn't cross much in the five years that they were both there, mostly due to the fact that they had different social circles. After Geoffrey finished school, he got a fairly low-level job at the WWN, mostly just fetching coffee and such for the bigwigs. But he began climbing his way to the top, his eyes set on a cushy job where he would be able to order underlings around. It was during his climb to the top that he really met Adelaide. In an amazing coincidence, Adelaide happened to also secure a job at the WWN upon finishing school: the role of newcomer Sitti Johnson on the popular soap "Timeturner Tales." As Sitti caught the eye of Thomas Sprecher, the soap's aethonon breeder, Adelaide caught Geoffrey's eye. One date turned into two, a week turned into a month, and before long, Geoffrey and Adelaide were in love. Not long after the wedding of Sitti to Thomas on the soap, Geoffrey and Adelaide imitated art and were married in 1952.

In 1956, Geoffrey and Adelaide welcomed a son into their family. Geoffrey, a huge fan of Greek Mythology, suggested naming him after a Greek God, thus earning him the name Apollo Hermes Jones. Four years later in 1960, a daughter was added to the family. Sticking with what they had done with their son, they named her after goddesses: Hestia Demeter Jones. When Hestia was four years old, Geoffrey got his wish and was promoted to the Programming Director at the WWN, in charge of determining which shows went on the air and when. When this promotion came, the family moved to a more upper-class area of London, and the quality of the clothing, toys, and food for the children greatly increased. Sitti remained a popular character on "Timeturner Tales," so Adelaide's job was secure, was well. Apollo and Hestia were homeschooled, like most young witches and wizards were.

As a child, Hestia was a happy little girl who wanted for little. She had the attention of her parents, and they were making enough money that they were able to live comfortably. She was a friendly, cheerful child, and very well-behaved. Her parents often brought her into the WWN offices, and Hestia would go up to everyone and say hi with a nice big smile. She wasn't shy about greeting other people. In fact, Hestia has never been really described as shy. She has her quiet moments, but quiet does not necessarily equate shy. In 1967, Apollo received his Hogwarts letter and went off to school, where he was sorted into Ravenclaw. Four years later, in 1971, Hestia joined Apollo at Hogwarts, though while he had been sorted into their father's former house, Hestia was sorted into their mother's.

Hestia enjoyed school, even though she wasn't particularly the best student. Unforunately, Apollo was quite a model student, so the professors expected Hestia to follow in his footsteps. She hated letting them down, but she just didn't have the study skills and drive that her older brother did. Apollo had known since his third year what he wanted to do — become a Healer — and he'd worked hard to reach that goal. Hestia, on the other hand, sort of floated around Hogwarts, not particularly excelling in any classes, and with no real career aspirations.

However, while she might not have been a particularly adept student, she was a very responsible young girl, which earned her Prefect status in her fifth year, which she held the following two years. She managed decent scores on the O.W.L.s, though she did have a couple of Ps. At least, as she pointed out to her parents, she didn't get any Ds. She entered her sixth year with five classes that didn't really add up to any specific career path: Arithmancy, Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, and Potions. It didn't really help any that she still didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, career-wise, after finishing school.

In her sixth and seventh years, Hestia really struggled with the more difficult classes. She ended up dropping Arithmancy after her sixth year, and she entered her seventh year with a bit more confidence in her ability to do well in her classes. Even with only the four classes, it was still a struggle to maintain her grades, though she managed decent marks on all of her N.E.W.T.s, scraping by with one O and three Es. After she finished at Hogwarts, Geoffrey hired her on as his personal assistant, and while Hestia was happy to have a job, she felt like she hadn't really done anything to deserve or earn her job, she was just the boss' daughter.

After working for her father for several months (and also doing a few guest voices on her mother's soap), Hestia approached her father with an idea for a new show on the WWN. "From the Hearth" (a sort of play on her name, since Hestia is the goddess of hearth and home), with tips and advice for things around the house. That was one of the few things that Hestia had always had a knack for and a love of. Her show was approved shortly, after a brief audition, and it is set to premiere on February 4th, as a weekly show Monday afternoons. If it picks up, it might be increased to two or three times a week. She still feels as though she only got this job because of her dad, so she is determined to prove that she actually deserves it.

Also recently, her roommate Marlene McKinnon has cultivated an interest in the Order of the Phoenix in her. Although Hestia isn't a member like Marlene is, she is a supporter of the Order, and she might join, though there isn't much of a fighter's spirit within her.
