History

Michael Bell and Laura Curtis spent seven years going to school together, but they hated each other the whole time, only partly because of their warring houses. It wasn't until five years after they'd finished school, when they ran into each other in Diagon Alley, that the other kind of sparks flew between the two of them. Theirs was a whirlwind courtship, less than two months between (re-)meeting and wedding (they eloped). From the start, Michael and Laura were like fire and ice, and only occasionally in a good way. Michael's eyes strayed quite frequently, and Laura was constantly threatening divorce. Despite their marital problems, they had two children: a son named William and a daughter named Penelope.

William grew up in a house where his father was teaching him how to pick up women (in fact, he even used Will to help pick up women when he was a baby and a toddler!) practically from the crib, and where his mum was essentially pounding into his head to treat women with respect. Plus, he had his little sister, and he quickly became The Protective Older Brother. It was his job, after all, (according to his mum) to watch out for his little sis. When the time came to go off to Hogwarts, he was both looking forward to it (school meant getting to play quidditch!) and dreading it (he had to leave Penny behind; who would look out for her now?). He was also somewhat dreading the inevitability of house placement: he knew that his dad wanted Gryffindor and his mum wanted Slytherin. If he ended up in one house or the other, it would only spur on even more fights between Michael and Laura. Fortunately, that didn't happen, as Will was sorted into Hufflepuff.

Once at school, Will was distraught to find out that first years couldn't try out for the quidditch team. So he bided his time and, in his second year (when Penny joined him at Hogwarts and in Hufflepuff), he tried out for the team and made it on as a chaser. Quidditch became, quite simply, Will's life. He had already been a major fan, thanks to his dad's job as a commentator (he sometimes got to go to matches with his dad!), but being able to play the sport as a student, and possibly having the chance to go on and play professionally, was a dream come true for Will. Who needed to worry about studying when you could instead work hard and become a quidditch star?

Despite not caring too much for academics, he managed to pass the OWLs with a few good scores. He mostly chose to continue only in the classes that were fun, while dropping everything else so that he could concentrate more on quidditch. He hopes to next year be made quidditch captain, so he's upping his game this year. While also hitting on nearly anything in a skirt: he is his father's son, after all.
