History
Ophelia is the youngest child and only daughter of Charles and Martha Evans. Having grown up in Seattle her whole life with two older brothers and cops for father and grandfather, Ophelia never particularly trended toward anything girly. She wanted to do everything her older brothers did, and her father and grandfather were her heroes. She wanted to be a cop, just like them (as did her brothers, but the family placed more importance upon Bart and Seb following their footsteps than on Ophelia). So Ophelia made it her mission in life to prove that she could become a cop, too, and that she would be a better cop than either of her brothers.
To toughen herself up, she got her parents to sign her up for karate classes, ultimately working her way all the way up to a black belt. She had the drive, determination, and dedication to devote herself to her studies. She earned top grades in school, then attended the University of Washington, majoring in Law, Societies, and Justice. By the time she graduated, both of her brothers had been through the police academy and were already rookie cops. Ophelia, too, went into the police academy, then got a job as a Deputy Sheriff in Kings County.
She was only five when the March fire happened, and it was far enough away that it didn't particularly register on her family's radar. But Ophelia definitely heard about the book, and was intrigued by the idea of an unsolved murder. She bought a copy and read the whole thing in one night. When news started hitting about a movie being made of the book, and on-location filming in the town where it happened, her curiosity was piqued. Even moreso when the sheriff announced that, due to the potential increase in tourism as a result of the filming, he would be sending some additional cops to the town to help keep the peace. Ophelia immediately volunteered to be sent. If there really was an unsolved murder in Fall City, then she was going to solve it, and prove to everyone that she was the best. Even if the fire really was just a fire, not murder, then surely there was something she could dig up in a small town that their own police hadn't been able to solve. She has no plans to leave Fall City until she has found something.
Personality
Ophelia could easily be likened to a baby rattlesnake: once she sinks her teeth into something, she won't let go without a fight. She will use any means necessary to reach her desired end, even if it means bending a few laws here and there. The ends will always justify the means.
