History

Geoff Hooper and Vicky Frobisher started dating in their sixth year, during the war. It took them a few years after the war to get around to getting married, they wanted to take some time to see if their relationship could work outside of school and without the whole life-and-death-ness of the war colouring their relationship. They finally got married three years after finishing school in August of 2002, and had two children within a few years: son Dougie in June of 2004, and daughter Catie in March of 2006. Geoff worked as a magigeologist, with Vicky working as his assistant. Because of the nature of their work, the Hoopers travelled a lot, all over the world, and they brought Dougie and Catie with them whenever they could, so Catie got to see all sorts of places and experience all sorts of cultures before she was even old enough to write her own name.

Because of all their travels, Catie and Dougie got along better than most other siblings their ages, since they often had to entertain themselves together when their parents were working. It also led both kids to being more independent that kids their age, since their parents had to trust that they could be good while they were working. Dougie went off to Hogwarts in 2015, and he was sorted into Gryffindor like his parents. During Dougie's first and second years, Catie missed her brother, even as she continued traveling with her parents. She was ecstatic to start Hogwarts herself in 2017, and though she was disappointed to not be sorted into her brother's house, she felt like the hat putting her in Ravenclaw was its way of saying how special and unique she was.

Catie's years at Hogwarts have passed rather unremarkably. Certainly far less remarkably than her parents, who had to live through the war. She missed travelling with her parents, though. It was a little weird for her, to be staying in one place all the time. But she loved Ravenclaw tower, and even though she didn't share a common room with her brother, they still got to spend time together. The best part of Hogwarts, in Catie's opinion, was being chosen as Ravenclaw prefect in her fifth year. Finally, she was given the responsibility that she knew she deserved. She had the maturity for the job, she knew, and was just glad that the professors saw it and rewarded her with the title. Unfortunately, later in her fifth year, her eye was turned by [male student, tbd by plotting]. After dating for a few months, she found out he was dating someone else, too. Suitably burned, Catie threw her attention into studying for her O.W.L.s and away from boys.

Personality

Catherine is tenacious. She can be like a bulldog with a bone if she puts her mind to something: Merlin help anyone who tries to tell her no. This sometimes lends itself to being a bit bossy: she knows the right or best way to do something, so clearly everyone needs to just listen to her and do it her way. She is very definitely a leader, not a follower, though more than that, she's independent. She really believes that she doesn't need anyone's help, that she can do anything she wants on her own. Little miss independent: don't offer to help her and you'll do just fine.

With both her parents and her older brother all being Gryffindors, everyone was a little surprised to see Catie sorted into Ravenclaw, especially since she had the fearlessness of a Gryffindor, but she was also whip-smart, and she had more than a bit of an impatience for people who weren't quite so quick in mental reflexes. Whenever she hits a stumbling block in learning something (contrary to what she might believe, Catie doesn't actually know all there is to know about everything!), she grows quickly frustrated with herself and uses her stubbornness to plow through anyway. If she's in a group with people who are taking too long to grasp something or to do their own work, she'll often just take over and do their work for them.

But she's not a total bitch. She might grow easily frustrated with those she deems as less smart than herself, but she does have a heart. She doesn't tend to make friends easily, so those she does have, she sticks with through thick and thin. She is independent, but she still loves her parents and her big brother Dougie. And, yes, even little miss independent gets lonely sometimes, though she'll never admit it.

She's also something of a musician. It's not what she wants to do with her life (that would be healing), but it's her favourite hobby. She has a couple of guitars, and she's quite a skilled player. It's not uncommon to see Catie sitting in the common room or an empty classroom or the courtyard or in a corner of a corridor, plucking at the strings of her guitar, either playing a song she knows or just playing around with notes and chords. She has the guts and determination to go for a career in music, don't get her wrong, she just has no inclination to make a living playing the guitar. She wants to heal people, the guitar is just on the side.
