History

Richard Parker and Addison Hathaway's marriage was a product of the war. They both finished school in the midst of the first war against Voldemort, and with the great unrest and terror, especially with Addison being a halfblood with a muggle mother, they rushed into marriage, but regardless of that, it was a happy one. Richard was interning with an herbologist, and Addison with an orithologist, so they managed to stay out of the war. It took them a few years after the war to get around to starting a family, but once they started, they didn't stop for two decades.

The first time Addison was pregnant and they were debating what to name their daughter, they decided to combine their interests: give her the first name of a bird, the middle name of a plant. Since Addison's favourite colour was purple, they opted to go with a purple flower, and so Robin Lavender Parker was born in the summer of 1986. When they were pregnant for a second time, they decided to make it their "thing," so Robin was followed by Lark Orchid in 1989, Dove Violet in 1991, Raven Lilac in 1995, Oriole Hibiscus in 1997, and Palila Wisteria in 1999. With six daughters, they decided they had enough children and Addison went on the potion. Nature had its own way, though, and just over seven years later in January of 2007, Wren Thistle Parker was born. The youngest of seven girls (which her dad started jokingly called His Personal Quidditch Team), not to mention being so much younger than all her sisters — seven years younger than Palila, 21 years younger than Robin — Wren was alone in a crowded house. And also the unfortunate victim of perpetual hand-me-downs: nothing was ever really hers, it was always passed down to her after having gone through all her sisters first. And, worse than that, she had six older sisters to live up to, one of whom finished Hogwarts when Wren was only a few months old and went straight into Auror training, another of whom went into professional Quidditch, and a third who became a Healer. Compared to all her older sisters, Wren felt she had to do something to make herself stand out from her sisters, and which could make her a star in her own family.

That thing ended up being dance. She always liked dancing around the house to music, from the time she started learning to walk, so when she begged her parents to sign her up for a dance class, Richard and Addison relented and signed her up for ballet. From ballet, Wren moved on to tap, jazz, back to ballet, and then any kind of dance classes that she could fit into her schedule. With the house emptying out as her older sisters finished school and went off on their own, Richard and Addison took to slightly spoiling Wren, as their baby. Wren had never been particularly close to any of her sisters, as they were all so much older than her (even Palila went off to Hogwarts when Wren was only four), so she found she didn't miss them too terribly much when they moved out … she was mostly just glad for an emptier house.

When Wren's Hogwarts letter finally arrived in 2018, the same year that Palila had just finished school, she balked a little at the idea of going off to school. She didn't particularly have anything against Hogwarts, just that it meant that she could only take her dance classes in the summer and over the hols. But Richard and Addison put their feet down: their daughter needed something in her head besides dance moves, in case she injured herself and couldn't dance anymore. So that September, Wren went off to school, where she was sorted into Gryffindor. It was a little weird for Wren, going off to the school where none of her sisters were currently students, but there was still a sort of lingering sense of them being there. Most of her teachers had taught at least one of her sisters, so Wren felt like she had to prove herself to be different than all of them.

Wren mostly only paid attention to classes because she had to. Academics weren't her strong suit, and she was only going to Hogwarts because her parents made her. Most of her free time went to finding places around the school to practice dancing, so homework often fell to the wayside. In her second year, her parents suggested she try out for quidditch. At first, Wren balked because that was Dove's thing, but she decided to go for it anyway. In her second year, she made reserve chaser for the Gryffindor team, and was bumped up to starting for her third and fourth years. Overall, though, her years at Hogwarts so far have been considerably boring. Friends, quidditch, classes, finding time and places to dance. Certainly nothing as exciting as, say, Robin's first year, which was the year the war destroyed Hogwarts. Wren mostly feels as though she's biding her time at Hogwarts, waiting until she's old enough to enroll in W.A.D.A., which is her dream: to study dance there and then go on to become a famous dancer.

Personality

A lot of Wren's personality can be described as "not like my sisters." As the youngest of seven girls, Wren has spent her whole life trying to not be just like her six older sisters. She might play quidditch like Ori does, but she plays a different position (that part is vastly important!) and she doesn't do it as a means to a future career, she does it for the adrenaline rush of literally flying. Her real passion, though, something that is wholly hers and which she loves deeply, is dance. She begged her parents to enroll her in ballet lessons when she was little, and she evolved from there through several different styles. Her favourite style is a mix of contemporary and hip hop, though her ballet roots will always show through. Her biggest dream, in fact, is to go to W.A.D.A. (the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts) upon completion of her schooling at Hogwarts and study dance, in hopes of becoming a famous dancer.

Her classes are both important to her and not. She strives to do well, simply to prove that she can, that she's not just the baby, skating by, and to prove that she can do more than just dance and throw a ball around. But at the same time, she finds sitting still and just listening to lectures for hours to be downright boring. Her favourite classes are the ones where she can get hands-on and actually do things. She falls asleep in History every week without fail, and would probably fall asleep in other classes, if those teachers were ghosts as well. She is counting down the days until she can fail her History O.W.L. and no longer have to take the class (as much as she strives to prove herself, she also knows better than to expect to do well in that class).

Wren is friendly, perhaps overly so. With the large age gap between her nearest sibling and herself, and with being the youngest, she didn't have the benefit of automatic playmates in her siblings growing up, so she's always been driven to find her own friends, no matter what. Which, unfortunately, sometimes leads her to befriend anyone who might seem even the slightest bit willing to be her friend, and she's perhaps too willing to look past other people's flaws if it means they might just maybe consider being her friend. She has a desperate need to be liked, which means that she could also be talked into doing things she doesn't want to do, in exchange for friendship.
