History

For countless generations, the MacFusty clan has lived in the Hebrides Islands (northwest of mainland Scotland), caring for the Hebridean Black dragons. Also for generations, the MacFustys have all been Gryffindors. One could argue that it makes sense, as it takes great courage to spend every day on the edge, working with dragons. The current generation includes the first MacFusty in recalled history to be sorted into Ravenclaw: Kenna Greer.

The second child of third-child Stuart MacFusty and his wife Finola, Kenna grew up surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. And, of course, dragons. Like her family, Kenna loves her family's dragons as if they were pets. Large, fire-breathing, capable-of-eating-her-alive pets, but pets nonetheless. Unlike the rest of her family, however, Kenna also liked to spend her spare time reading and scribbling out her own short stories. She read everything, from fiction to non-fiction to reference books. Even still, she had expected to be sorted into Gryffindor when she joined her older brother Neil at Hogwarts in September of 1995. She was utterly shocked and dismayed when, instead of joining Neil and cousins Malina and Aidan (not to mention the Famous Harry Potter) at the Gryffindor table, the Sorting Hat relegated her to Ravenclaw.

Kenna was determined to make Ravenclaw work for her, though. She spent as much time outside of class as she could with her brother and cousins, but she also strove to make friends within her own house, as well. She also secretly was a little happy that she was sorted into Ravenclaw, because she'd always known that she was just a little bit different than the rest of her family. Not that she thought her family was stupid or anything (you couldn't exactly be stupid to survive among dragons), but they just didn't care about knowledge nearly as much as Kenna did.

It was during Kenna's first three years that the school went crazy with the war. Lord Voldemort was announced to have returned at the end of her first year, Professor Dumbledore died at the end of her second year, and Lord Voldemort was killed (again) at the end of her third year. She was young enough and from a pure enough family to have flown under the radar during the war (plus … nobody would dare be stupid enough to take on a family with "pet" dragons, right?), but she was mostly happy to just have the war be over, and with the good guys winning.

After that, her fourth and fifth years passed rather calmly and without comment. It was after she sat her O.W.L.s that things started to get a bit questionable with Kenna and her family. Kenna was already greatly interested in writing, and she had already written her first book, a short children's chapter book called Liam and the Dragon. She wanted to publish it. She also wanted to leave school, because no matter what she did (writing or dragon keeping), she wouldn't need N.E.W.T.s to do so. Not that she found anything wrong with N.E.W.T.s, of course, and she had nothing against the extra learning, she just felt that her time could be better spent on independent research and writing. Her family wanted her to finish her last two years of school and get her N.E.W.T.s. When Kenna turned seventeen in November of her sixth year, she started talking about just not returning to school after the winter holidays. Her grandparents put a quick stop to that by threatening to disown her. The threat of losing her beloved dragons was too much to bear, so Kenna finished up her schooling.

During this time, she did manage to publish her first book in the summer of 2001, between her sixth and seventh years at Hogwarts. She had already begun writing her second book, a sequel to the first, and published it the following summer, shortly after she sat her N.E.W.T.s. It started growing in popularity, and demand rose for a third book, which Kenna happily wrote in her first year post-Hogwarts, and it was published that summer. She continued with the trend of getting one book written, edited, and published a year, with them coming out in the summer, so her fourth book came out the following year, and her fifth is due out this coming summer (2005). Kenna has no far-reaching plans, at the moment, for the stories, she just takes them one at a time, and doesn't know how many she'll end up with.

While writing and publishing her books, Kenna has also been working with her family's dragons (as she has been her whole life), and still living on her family's compound. In January of 2005, she finally used her saved-up money from her published books to procure a flat off Diagon Alley, a place where she can go that's entirely hers, if she needs to get away from her family for a while, or just needs a quiet place to write.
