Blurb

It was something of a surprise to the Jorkins family (but a good one) when Bertha received her Hogwarts owl at the age of eleven, because she had never really shown signs of magic before then and they were afraid she might be a squib. Bertha was not particularly adept at any of her classes, particularly the ones that required her to use her wand, since she seemed to have so little magical ability. What she absolutely loved, however, was knowing everything that was going on with absolutely everybody (and then, of course, immediately spreading the news about it). Her big mouth frequently got her into trouble with classmates who didn't like being gossiped about, but she just couldn't help stop (not that she wanted to). She began to enjoy the fact that her gossiping was getting her attention at all, and eventually she went beyond simply repeating what she saw or heard and started to embellish the stories, twisting words and taking things out of context to make them juicier. Although she had aspirations of becoming a reporter after Hogwarts, her father planned to use his contacts in the Ministry to get her a low-level job there that would keep her out of trouble.
