Blurb

Cassidy was somewhat ignored as a child in favor of her older brother, Richard: he was a model student while she could barely keep up passable grades. All Cassidy wanted to do was to meet her parents' expectations and do well in school like her brother. The gap between Cassidy and her family widened when she received her Hogwarts owl at the age of 11 and learned that she was a witch. As Cassidy left for her first year at school, her family feared that she would turn them all into newts when she came home. Once at Hogwarts, Cassidy was sorted into Hufflepuff, though she didn't understand why everybody had to be split up, because surely people had traits to fit more than just one house. Cassidy still only managed passable grades at Hogwarts, the only exception to that being Herbology, which she excelled at because of her love of plants. In her fourth year, Cassidy signed up for the inter-house tournament and was paired up with a fellow fourth year: Slytherin Regulus Black. Although there was some initial dislike between the two (due to Regulus' strict pureblood upbringing and dislike of "mudbloods" like Cassidy), they began to get along better as they had to work together, until eventually they started liking each other, and they began dating in secret. A particularly nasty spell was used against Cassidy during the Hogsmeade attack, which led to her constantly having to face her intense fear of heights. She begged Regulus to help her reverse the spell, but was then horrified when he used it on a fellow student. Her relationship with Regulus and the secretive nature of it led to a rift between her and her best friends, fellow Hufflepuffs Amelia Bones and Ji-Eun Kang, both of whom hated all Slytherins.
