History

Evan is the eldest child of Stefan and Elisabeth Cadwallader, followed by a brother and two sisters. He spent most of his childhood being dragged here and there across the globe by his parents. When they were home, it was in a small house just down the road from their grandparents in Caerphilly, Wales. It was their grandparents who took care of the kids when they couldn't go with their parents, such as once they started at the local muggle primary school. Whenever Evan was home, his grandfather took him to quidditch matches, and taught him to play the game. Rhys gave Evan his first broom, and even got him an autographed quaffle from their favourite team: the Caerphilly Catapults. Evan had the quidditch bug, and was determined to get on his house team at Hogwarts, then go on to play professionally.

With their parents always so busy, it often came down to Evan to help watch over and take care of his younger siblings. From everything his muggleborn mother told him and his siblings of the first war, he also grew up with an intense dislike of blood purists, and of bullies in general. He isn't particularly a fighter, but he will stand up for those who are being bullied.

Evan was excited to start school at Hogwarts. Not only was he looking forward to the experience of the school itself, from everything his parents had told him, but he was also looking forward to being able to try out for school quidditch. Once he arrived at school, he was sorted into Hufflepuff, which suited him just fine. He had mostly figured he would either go to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, so he was happy enough with the sorting. He tried out for the Hufflepuff quidditch team in his first year, but didn't even make reserve. In his second year, he was finally made a reserve chaser, though it drove him mad that the following year quidditch was cancelled. Sure, the tournament was exciting and all that, but what about quidditch?! Even though there was no quidditch that year, Evan still spent as much of his free time as he could taking his broom out to practice. He couldn't get rusty, not if he wanted to make it onto the team the following year. Finally in his fourth year, Evan made it onto the Hufflepuff quidditch team as a chaser. He had a brief freakout when Umbridge disbanded all groups (including quidditch... how could she?!), but calmed considerably once the Hufflepuff team was reinstated. He made chaser again the following year, and at least that quidditch season managed to go without interruptions.

Of course, there were academics at Hogwarts, too. Thanks to his parents, he had an interest in magigeology, so he thought it would be a good back-up plan if he was grievously injured (or if he didn't make it onto a pro team... but why wouldn't he?). Despite Binns' droning voice (and his own difficulties with staying focused on lecture), he forced himself to knuckle down and keep his marks up in History of Magic, knowing that it and Ancient Runes would be important for his future. He also took Care of Magical Creatures, though he much preferred Professor Grubbly-Plank over Hagrid. He is certainly happy to be dropping many of his classes this year so that he can have more time to focus on quidditch (and the classes he does still have). It absolutely delighted him that he was made captain of the Hufflepuff team for his sixth year, especially since there were older students who had been on the team in previous years.

Stefan and Elisabeth had departed in May 2017 for somewhere in South America for research, and they took Fiona with them. They had originally planned to return in time to send their older children off to school, but the last that Evan heard from his parents and sister was that they were heading into the Amazon rainforest in early August.

Personality

Personable: Once you can get him to shut up about quidditch for a while, Evan is good-natured, friendly, and sociable. He likes people (especially girls... how you doin'?) dislikes spending much time to himself. He does sometimes suffer from foot-in-mouth disease, but he usually shrugs them off in a self-deprecating manner.

Outdoorsy: Having grown up accompanying his parents to all corners of the world, Evan's favourite place to be is simply "outside." He loves the smell of fresh air, and he would spend all day outside if he could. He did particularly poorly in Potions because of being so cut off from the outside, and (surprisingly) did poorly in Herbology because he kept getting too distracted.

Respectful: His grandfather pounded it into his head a lot growing up: be respectful of everyone or else. Address those older than you, or in positions of authority, as sir or ma'am. Hold doors open for people (not just women, but everyone). Don't go around picking fights, but don't be a pushover, either. Treat women like the goddesses they are, we men are lucky they deign to acknowledge us.

Distractible: Evan isn't very good at multi-tasking. If something new comes along to capture his attention, he will forget what he was working on. Just about the only thing that can hold his attention for extended periods of time is quidditch. It makes studying extraordinarily difficult, because it's very easy to let himself get distracted from homework he doesn't want to work on.
