History

Marc Proulx met Rebecca Wright in the oddest of places: the women's loo of a restaurant in a small wizarding village just outside of Paris, France, where nineteen-year-old Rebecca was vacationing with her boyfriend, twenty-year-old Damien Miller, and twenty-one-year-old Marc was vacationing with his fiancée, eighteen-year-old Aimée Duchard. Aimée had fallen ill, and Marc had gone with her into the loo, where he ran into Rebecca, who was washing her hands. Although both were in the restaurant with their significant others, sparks flew between the two. When Rebecca and Damien's relationship fell apart, and Marc and Aimée's engagement did, as well, they both ran into each other again in a rather serendipitous turn of events. This time, the young French diplomat (Marc worked in the French magical government in their equivalent to the British department of International Magical Office of Law, under the Department of International Magical Cooperation) and the young British photographer (Rebecca worked as a photographer for the Daily Prophet) spent time talking and getting to know each other. Less than a year later, Marc transferred to the British Ministry of Magic and moved to London with his new bride.

Their first child, a daughter who they named Alice Marie, was born on July 8, 1959. They were thrilled to have a child, and felt that their lives were too busy to keep up with more than one child, so Alice was raised as an only child until she was ten years old, when in a bit of a "surprise!" moment, Rebecca discovered that she was pregnant again. On February 22, 1970, Rebecca gave birth to twins Henri Joseph and David Nicholas. Although Alice was used to being an only child, she took rather well to having little brothers, and until she received her Hogwarts letter that summer, she was more than happy to help out with Henri and David. After much discussion that summer, because Alice had received a letter from Beauxbatons, as well, Marc and Rebecca decided that it would be better for Alice to attend Hogwarts, a decision that would dictate the remainder of Alice's life.

On September 1, 1970, Alice kissed her baby brothers and her parents goodbye, then boarded the Hogwarts Express at London's Kings Cross station. She was too busy worrying after her brothers, whether they would miss her while she was gone or even remember her when she returned home for the holidays, that she did not pay much attention to the other students crowding on the train around her. She chatted with the other first years who she shared a compartment with, and they all pondered what House they would be sorted into. From what her mother, a Ravenclaw alumna, had told her of the houses, Alice was hoping for either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, she didn't feel particularly brilliant enough for Ravenclaw nor even remotely cunning enough for Slytherin, but she thought that surely she was brave, loyal, and kind. In fact, much to her delight, she was sorted into Gryffindor that very night.

Throughout her early years at Hogwarts, Alice was unsure as to what she would want to do upon finishing school. All she knew for sure was that she would want to help people. In her third year, the idea of being a Healer greatly appealed to Alice, because it would mean devoting her life to healing others. It seemed the perfect career for her, so she threw herself into her studies for the classes required for that career path, determined to earn high marks in all of the classes.

In her fourth year, Alice finally really noticed her fellow Gryffindor, Frank Longbottom. Of course she knew him already, they were in the same house and year, after all, but he had always seemed shy, but nice and charming, too. Honestly, that year Alice started developing a bit of a crush on him, though she didn't realize that the feelings were returned until the following year, when Frank finally asked her out and Alice said yes, of course.

Fifth year ended with Alice earning Os in six of her classes, and Es in the remaining three. Of those classes, she chose to continue on in the five that she would need high NEWT scores in to be a Healer: Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Potions, and Transfiguration. Now in her sixth year, Alice is admittedly happy to be down to only five classes, especially considering how much more work is given in these classes than in previous years. She is also still very happy to be dating Frank.

Although the war has not really yet reached the students at Hogwarts, Alice is finding herself more aligned to the Light and to the ministry. Eventually, of course, she will become an Auror and also join the Order of the Phoenix, but for now she is still just another student, hoping to become a Healer.
