History

3 Significant Moments in Childhood

  1. One of three: Even before she was born, Harmony was already surrounded by siblings, considering she shared in-mum living space with her two sisters. When she was older, she often wondered how her parents told her sisters and her apart when they were babies, and how they managed to juggle three babies (then three toddlers) all at once, especially since they were bookended by the boys. But being one-third of the triplets entirely defined who Harmony was in her childhood: she was a triplet, rarely mentioned without mentions of her sisters, as well. Though they developed their own personalities and interests and began doing things separately, Harmony has never shed her feelings of being "one of three" and still feels inherently connected to her sisters, regardless of distance.
  2. The Boogey-mum: Penelope never seemed to be around when Harmony was growing up, except when she got in trouble. "Just wait until your mother gets home" somehow managed to be some of the scariest words her father could utter, especially when Harmony knew she was in trouble for something big. Even though Harmony sometimes deliberately got into trouble just to get her mother's attention, however briefly, the time spent waiting until her mother got home felt like it stretched into eternity as she waited for The Boogey-Mum to return home and punish her.
  3. Something her very own: The triplets always seemed to be sharing just about everything, either because they just wanted to, or because their parents made them. Clothes were interchangeable when they were younger, until they started growing differently and having different styles. Toys were shared, even ones that had been gifts directly to one of the girls. But the summer they were eleven, each got something they couldn't share: her own magic wand. Harmony had been waiting forever for the day to come that she would get to visit Ollivander's shop and find that one perfect wand that was meant for her. Unlike Melody, who practically tried every wand in the store, Harmony found hers almost immediately: 9 inches long, cypress, dragon heartstring core. Sure, Melody and Rhapsody could use Harmony's wand in a pinch, but it would never work so well for them as it would for Harmony. This small, simple piece of wood with its core taken from the heart of a dragon would determine her fate, Harmony was absolutely certain of it.

3 Significant Moments During School

  1. To each her own house: Of the triplets, Harmony was came first alphabetically, so she was the first to take her seat on the stool on September 1, 2013. The hat was placed upon her head, and it called out GRYFFINDOR almost immediately. Harmony was thrilled: the house of the brave! But her enthusiasm faded quite a bit as first Melody, then Rhapsody, were sorted into other houses. It wasn't fair … it wasn't right to split them up like that! Harmony spent the entirety of that first feast darting her eyes toward her sisters at their other tables, wondering if they felt as lost as she suddenly did. Of course, Gryffindor was a perfect fit for Harmony, and she made friends there easily. And, of course, she still had classes with her sisters, and they could still find time to spend together. Really, being sent to different houses was probably for the best: it enabled them to each really come into their own identity separate from the other two. Harmony wasn't Harmony-Melody-Rhapsody anymore, just Harmony.
  2. Prefect: It was an absolute thrill when, along with her booklist for fifth year, she was delivered the coveted Prefect badge. She had shaped up enough in school, not causing quite so much trouble simply because now, her mother actually was right there if she got into trouble, and her tendency to be a crusader and protector must have caught the eyes of the Headmistress and her own Head of House in a positive way! Harmony wore her badge with pride. She became a bit of a stickler for rules, something that surprised her friends. For once, Harmony had a secret that she didn't even share with her sisters: she hoped to do her mother proud as a Prefect, which meant following the rules and enforcing them in others. It was entirely for her mother that Harmony strove to be the best Prefect she could be.
  3. Career choices: Also in fifth year came meetings with her Head of House to determine what she wanted to do with her life, and what marks she would have to get on her O.W.L.s in order to continue in the necessary courses. Harmony didn't even hesitate when asked what she wanted to do: she wanted to be an Auror. She knew exactly which courses she would need to continue in, and her Head of House told her which courses required what minimum O.W.L. mark in order to continue on at the N.E.W.T. level. Harmony studied harder that year than she had ever studied in her life, and for the five courses that she would be continuing with (Charms, Defense, Potions, and Transfiguration were all required; she added Herbology to round it out to the necessary five, because knowledge of plants tied in with knowledge of poisons and antidotes), she excelled: an O in all five on her O.W.L.s. Harmony continued working hard in all five courses for her remaining two years at Hogwarts, to keep her marks high enough for one of the coveted positions in Auror training.

3 Significant Moments Since School

  1. Auror training: It was the thrill of a lifetime when Harmony was accepted into Auror training. Of course, it wasn't easy, but Harmony had always much preferred to pursue the more difficult things in life: if it came too easily, it just wasn't worth doing. Any error in training was a learning experience: what to do better next time. She racked up her own collection of bumps, bruises, and scars, but she wore them with pride. When she finally finished her training and was made a full, proper Auror, … that was the proudest day of her entire life.
  2. Daniel: During training, Harmony had started developing an interest in professional duelling. Although she already had a full enough plate just with being an Auror, she still joined the world of professional duelling. After all, she had to keep her skills sharp! Her first competition was in Tokyo in 2025, and Harmony was nervous. It was something of a relief to (re-)meet a fellow Brit in Tokyo: Daniel Smythe. They had gone to school together, and he had been in Ravenclaw with Melody, as well as a fellow prefect, but they had just never really spent too much time together in school or in the five years since. He asked her out on a date before she had to return to England, and then they kept up a correspondence afterward, mostly through owls to begin with, though it soon blossomed into a long-distance relationship. For two years, they owled back and forth, and each took trips to visit the other whenever possible. Being an Auror and a duellist had left Harmony little time for a social life, so the arrangement actually worked out well for her. It also made their relationship just a little more difficult than a "normal" one … and that also worked well for Harmony, because she still preferred to have to work for things than to have them come easily. Even still, after two years, the distance was starting to wear on Harmony, and she found herself occasionally jealous of the other girls whose boyfriends were right there whenever they needed them, and the couples she saw going out on real dates. So when Daniel showed up unexpectedly on her doorstep in the middle of the night, with news that he was transferring back to London and a proposal of marriage, Harmony didn't even have to think about it before saying yes.
  3. Married life: Of course, when your entire relationship thus far has progressed primarily in letters punctuated by occasional visits, switching from that to being married and actually living together was quite the change. Harmony was so used to living on her own that it was a major adjustment to suddenly be living with someone else. It's been less than a year since they got married, and every day is like a new adventure still. Harmony is a little worried that she might get on Daniel's nerves sometimes, and sometimes she wonders if they really should have gotten married so quick, or if they should have dated in the same country for a while first, but she would certainly never say as much aloud … well, maybe to her sisters, but not to anyone else.

Personality

3 Positive Traits

  1. Fearless: Well, maybe not fearless, because to be without fear is to not be human, but Harmony is definitely a Gryffindor: she acknowledges that she has fears and she faces them head-on. She knows that her job is dangerous, but she doesn't let that stop her from doing it. She doesn't back down from fear, no matter what it is. Which has led to her getting in over her head sometimes, but she much prefers that over living a life half-lived from not facing her fears.
  2. Thinking ahead: It probably shocks nearly everybody who knows Harmony to find out that she is actually really good at chess. Although nearly everything else about her screams Gryffindor, there is one tiny bit of Ravenclaw lurking in her head: she has a great sense of looking several steps ahead. This has served her well in both her jobs: as an Auror, in anticipating what could go wrong, as well as in thinking like the dark wizard they're pursing; and as a duellist, in being able to almost predict what her opponent is about to throw at her and knowing the right spell to counter it. She was tested once to see if she might have seer capabilities, but the test came back negative … she was just innately talented at figuring out what was coming up.
  3. Dog-lover: Harmony loves dogs. She has an absolute soft-spot in her heart for the tail-wagging, tongue-lolling, four-legged beasts. Even though she knew her hours as an Auror would be crazy, and even though she knew she would have to travel for that and for duelling, she got a pet dog not long after she became a full Auror. She loves the generally positive outlook on life that all dogs seem to have, and she simply cannot stand by if she sees a dog being mistreated. You could probably even say that Harmony loves dogs more than most people, and you wouldn't be entirely wrong.

3 Negative Traits

  1. Stubborn: Bull-headed, that's the term a lot of people use to describe Harmony. Harmony will sink her teeth into something like a pit bull and just not let go. It doesn't matter if you eventually can prove to her that whatever she's steadfastly insisting is true is, in fact, false, she still won't give up. She doesn't back down from confrontations (in fact, she will still sometimes deliberately go looking for confrontations), and she will never give up even a losing battle.
  2. Temperamental: Yes, Harmony has a temper. She has a bit of a short fuse, and once you set her off … prepare for an explosion. Usually what sets her off is when something goes wrong unexpectedly (especially since she prides herself on thinking several steps ahead, she greatly hates the unexpected happening). She also gets very angry at herself if she can't make any headway on something: yes, she likes things difficult, but there's difficult and then there's impossible, and Harmony hates the impossible. The impossible sets her temper off horribly. Even when her temper is directed at herself, she sometimes takes it out on other people … though she has been trying very hard not to take it out on Daniel (not always succeeding).
  3. Mildly claustrophobic: Harmony isn't sure where this came from, but she cannot stand being closed up in tight spaces. She was glad to be in Gryffindor tower during school, as opposed to underground like Hufflepuff or Slytherin. The weather has to be really terrible for her to not be sleeping with a window open, and if the window does have to be closed, she needs at least one or two fans running in the bedroom or she just cannot sleep. One of her greatest irrational fears is being buried alive.

Boggart: It varies, based on her current state of mind. Sometimes, it's herself, horribly injured and/or dying. Other times, it's her holding a baby until someone comes up and plucks it out of her arms, calling her an unfit mother for always putting herself in harm's way. Occasionally, it's Daniel leaving her because her job is too dangerous (or just because she's snapped at him too many times).
Mirror of Erised: Her and Daniel, old and (slightly) gray. They're both the Heads of their respective Departments at the Ministry, and they have a couple of children and even a few grandchildren.
