Timeturner Tales

Timeturner Tales is a serial (melo)drama that airs on the Wizarding Wireless Network in the Harry Potter universe. It was originally just an off-hand mention: my character Emily Wyke's father was a writer for the show (at Memories 1975, in March 2007). Just under a year later (February 2008), in need of a career for my character Hestia Jones's mother (at Blurred Lines), I decided to bring Timeturner Tales back, making Hestia's mother a voice actress on the show (in the role of newcomer Sitti Johnson, who ended up marrying the serial's resident aethonon breeder, Thomas Sprecher). At this point, I hadn't done up much real information on the show, but I imagine that if I'd played Hestia for longer than the couple weeks I did, I would have started writing up information on the show.

Later that year (July 2008), I was picking up Su Li at a celebrity-focused game (Life, or Something Like It), so I decided to once again bring Timeturner Tales back, casting Su in a newcomer's role. Because the game incorporated a wizards' version of television, I also devised a television-based spin-off for the show, called Port Merwyn (which is the name of the town in which the serial is set). This was the first time I actually sat down and thought about the show, and I actually made a list of the main cast of characters on the show and posted it in Su's journal.

Two and a half years later (March 2011), I once again brought Timeturner Tales back, when I wanted to play an overdramatic character who was an actor, Hugh Bradley (for Six Degrees). I cast Hugh in the role of Ryan Sprecher (son of Sitti), and took all of the information that I had created for Su's portrayal and tweaked it, expanding upon it and making some changes.

Less than a year later (December 2011), I decided to bring Timeturner Tales to yet another game (the first time that Timeturner Tales existed in two different games that I was in at the same time), with my character Pippa Dobbs (at Confundo) sort of taking some of Hestia's history: Pippa's mother was the voice actress of the character of Katherine Sprecher (due to the timeline set out in Su's and Hugh's information, Sitti wasn't around in MWPP-era anymore — or at least not old enough to be played by a MWPP-era character's parent —, so her mother-in-law was the one who married the aethonon breeder).

After Six Degrees ended, I couldn't resist bringing Hugh Bradley to the new game Sidelines (January 2012). Hugh was slightly tweaked, but he still had his role as Ryan Sprecher, and I just couldn't resist working more on tweaking some of the information on the serial. (Such as bringing the role I had originally created for Su back into the show.)

I took a hiatus from RP for almost a year, and joined Pons Novus the following summer (June 2013). I once again revisited Hugh Bradley, though this time he was considerably older (the game being set in 2028), which called for the biggest overhaul to Timeturner Tales' information yet: creating a whole new generation of characters.

Timeturner Tales is one of my favorite pieces of personal headcanon for HP-verse games, and I've no doubt that I will continue expanding upon the information I already have, and casting characters and their family members in the serial, or putting them on the crew, every chance I get. Also, I may or may not have heavily based a good portion of the characters in the serial on characters from General Hospital, the soap I have watched for over a decade.
